Hello Iris, it’s so good to see you again.
It seems so long since I last saw you, when
I thought you’d gone away for good.
Oh hello Daff, I see you’ve come to join us too.
How surprised and glad I am to see you!
I thought that last year you were dead!
brightening, rousing, warming,
I love a frosty Monday morning like today under a clear blue sky –
apart from the friendly robin in the bushes over there,
there’s no-one in the world about except my dog and I,
and our breath is steaming from us both in the fresh and icy air.
Such is retirement on a Monday –
almost as good as being a Sunday!
Here comes Christmastide –
our tree is dressed and pretty,
logs stacked high by our fireside.
Tinsel and holly,
baubles, bells and mistletoe,
mean now we can all be jolly.
Warming, lifting, healing,
Ever welcome morning wonder –
